FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Exhibitionists will reveal their thoughts on sex, sexuality and relationships in their upcoming show Body in Motion, Bedlam in Mind. Opening night performances and celebration will take place on Saturday January 19th starting at 7:30pm. The art show will extend through February 9th, 2002. Body in Motion, Bedlam in Mind will highlight both individual and collaborative works by The Exhibitionists and will creatively exploit the Galapagos art space with sculpture, painting, photography, digital art and other burlesque-style temptations.

Co-founders of the NYC-based women's art salon, Fay Ku and Jen Laskey, will exhibit their work and themselves along with an impressive array of 40 other local women artists, musicians, performers, DJs and writers. Visual artists include sculptor Brynna Tucker showcasing special site-specific installations, Millette Tapiador with "Oral Sex and House of Self Joy" and painter SallyAnn Carstensen with her chilling "Valentine". Others include digital artist Monica Smith's self-portraits, photographer Nikki Johnson's latest images and Christa Toole's thematic abstract paintings, plus many more. Visual art installations will remain at Galapagos through February 9th 2002.

Event performance highlights promise Laura Blereau's "Viva Vauvo," a retelling of the Persephone myth with the new goddess of obscenity; the explosive Haena Kim Trio: live bands; DJs; dancers and a full cast of carnivalesque characters. Check out the Body/Bedlam reading series in the back room with Jennifer Deaderick's latest take on "Swooning," Sarah Feldman's "It's Not Just A (Blow) Job, It's A Career," Jen Laskey's "…but what if you're the asshole," Dana Rasso's "Sin" and other writers reading original work.

All donations will support the two-year-old collective's upcoming creative endeavors. Please come join The Exhibitionists in celebrating and supporting NYC women artists.
